Every small business owner will be required to write a press release at some point. This is the correct way to write a press release to get optimum results and rewards.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Writing program such as Word or WordPerfect
  • Spell checker
  • Images in Jpeg format
  • Company Logo in Jpeg format
  1. Step 1

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE should be the first lines of your press release.

  2. Step 2

Create a compelling headline. Keep it short, but descriptive. Grab the readers attention like a newspaper headline.

  3. Step 3

Your most important information should be in the beginning of the press release. The first paragraph is your time to draw your readers in. If you don't, they probably will not continue to read. A good press release should be a good read.

  4. Step 4

Proof read your work several times. Ask a friend to proof read your work as well since someone else is quicker to notice a typo than we are about our own work.

  5. Step 5

Use your spellchecker. Never submit a press release without using a spellchecker; no matter how good you are at spelling.

  6. Step 6

Provide all of your company contact info including company name, owner, address, phone #, E-mail address and website or url.

  7. Step 7

End your press release with "###" (without the quotation marks) after your last lines of text. This symbol lets the editors know they have successfully received the entire release.

  8. Step 8

Submit your press release ton online distribution services. I reccomend Free-PR-Release.com.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid selling your services. Instead, answer questions that your customers may have. Get inside the head of your customers.
