Things You'll Need:
- cold water
- cold water detergent
- stain remover
-
Step 1
React QuicklyReact quickly. Treat the blood stain as soon as possible. The longer the blood stain dries, the harder it will be to get the blood stain out of the fabric.
-
Step 2
Use Cold WaterUse cold water. Rinse the blood stain with cold water. This is very important!! Unlike other stains, blood stains will set you use warm or hot water. If the blood stain is fresh, it will start to wash out already with the cold water. If the blood stain is dried, you should merely dampen it before moving to the next step.
-
Step 3
Scrub with DetergentScrub with detergent. With a small bristle brush, like the kind used for washing vegetables, scrub the blood stain gently. Add detergent to the brush as necessary. Rinse and repeat until the blood stain is removed.
-
Step 4
Rinse outRinse out the fabric thoroughly, removing all detergent residue.
-
Step 5
Heavy Duty StainsFor heavy duty blood stains, try the following. If the blood stain is not removed completely from the above steps, add a stain remover gel. Let the stain sit for as long as the instructions on the stain remover bottle indicate. Then, repeat the above steps until the blood stain is gone.
