Things You'll Need:
- Pictures of family, friends, and pets
- Computer with a scanner
- CD-ROM, optional
- Calendar creation software or MS Word
- Quality print paper
- Printer
- Hole puncher
-
Step 1
Pick the best pictures. When looking through your photo albums, try to choose a common theme. Depending upon the final product you are looking for, you might choose older or antique pictures, or you may want to focus on pictures of your children. Consider the different seasons, holidays, and birthdays within each month. Try to choose pictures that highlight these events. If your calendar is for a family member, such as a grandparent, you might consider gathering pictures from when they were little and putting those pictures next to pictures of your own children.
-
Step 2
Scan your pictures onto your computer. If you do not have access to a scanner, you can scan your pictures at any office supply store and they will be saved onto a CD. This is also a great way to be able to send your pictures through email.
-
Step 3
Crop size of pictureCrop and edit your photos. Many of the calendar creation software programs now have special features that allow you to add text or create a collage. These can really make your calendar special. You can also crop your pictures so they only include a specific part of the picture.
-
Step 4
There are many calendar creation software programs available, but there are also many free templates available online and in some software you may already own. Microsoft Word has templates that will show you how make a photo calendar. Find a few resources for free calendar templates below in the Resources section.
-
Step 5
Many of the calendar software programs will give you formatting options you might not find at free websites. You will be able to choose your calendar layout, such as yearly, or monthly, as well as, pictures at the top, bottom or along the sides. The possibilities are endless.
-
Step 6
When you print your calendar, you will need to choose what type of paper you want. There are many different grades (thicknesses) and colors to choose from. You can have this done at a print shop or do it at home. The better quality of paper and printer will result in a better quality calendar.
-
Step 7
You can have your calendar bound professionally at an office supply store. It is not that expensive and many will include free plastic covers as well. It will provide a professional appearance to your finished calendar. Just take your printed pages in to use the service.
-
Step 8
Punch a hole in each sheet of your calendar in order to hang it on the wall. But another option is to run three or four ribbons through the binding. This can be tied at the top and makes an attractive hanger.
