Things You'll Need:
- map
- cardboard
- mod podge
- pre-finished molding
- wood glue
- clamps
- picture hangers
-
Step 1
Cut a piece of cardboard slightly bigger that the map.
-
Step 2
Use mod podge (can be found at craft stores) to adhere the map to the cardboard.
-
Step 3
Cover the map completely with mod podge. Smooth out any wrinkles on the map.
-
Step 4
Let the map dry completely.
-
Step 5
Buy pre-finished molding (at most home improvement stores) in the style of your choice for the frame.
-
Step 6
Measure and cut the molding to the lengths you will need. Cut the corners at a 45 degree angle. Using a miter saw will give you a straight edge.
-
Step 7
Use wood glue to attach the molding to the map. Use clamps to hold it tight until it dries. If you don’t have enough clamps to do all the sides at once do one side at a time. It’s also easier to line the corners up if you do it one at a time.
-
Step 8
Attach picture hangers on the back of the molding and hang your new wall art.

on 12/22/2008 Cool instructions... Could definitely be used for things other than maps, although they sound like a cool decoration! 5*!

on 12/13/2008 Huh, I didn't know about pre-finished molding. This could be useful for making all kinds of picture framed art. Where do you buy it. What do you need to cut it?
