All smartphones are known to use a tremendous amount of battery life.

Today's cell phones may do a lot of things their bulky predecessors cannot, but conserving battery life is not one of them. Any smartphone, whether it's an iPhone, Android or BlackBerry, consumes battery power at record rates. There are a few things you can do, however, to get the most out of your iPhone's battery.

Instructions

    • 1

Keep your iPhone up to date. Make sure you download the latest software updates when they become available, as the patches usually have battery fixes to conserve battery life.

    • 2

Turn off everything you don't need or are not using at the moment. Go to your "Settings" menu and shut items down, such as WiFi and Bluetooth, when you aren't using them. Turn off your games, too, when you aren't playing them. All of these applications continue to run in the background and waste precious battery life if not turned off.

    • 3

Go easy on the brightness. Setting the slider a little less than halfway should be enough for most people. The lower you go the better. While you're at it, set your auto-lock to one minute so you don't accidentally leave your phone on.

Turn off "Push." Go into your "Settings" menu and select "Fetch New Data." Move the "Push" slider to "Off." Set your fetch to an hour, or manual if you really want to run lean on battery life. Keep in mind that your phone uses battery every time it checks for email.

    • 5

Make your calls from an area with good reception. Making calls in areas of poor reception requires more battery power. If you are in an area where you are not receiving any reception whatsoever, put your iPhone into "Airplane" mode to turn off all networking and conserve battery power.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you work indoors you can set your brightness as low as 25%

  • If you use Wi Fi often, set "ask to join networks" to "off". Or else your phone will be constantly burning battery looking for networks.
