Lake Tahoe is one of the top winter sports destinations on earth. The lake area is divided into two parts; the North Shore (in Nevada) and the South Shore (in California). It is home to 15 ski resorts, most of them in the vicinity of North Shore, each with many lodging options. Lake Tahoe is approximately one hour driving from the Reno-Nevada airport. With transportation offered from the terminal and most of Reno's hotels to the destination, Lake Tahoe is very easy to get to. Stateline is the place if the South Shore is where you're looking for a thrill. Heavenly is the gem of all the recreation choices in the south of the lake.
