Step 1
You can always put a TV in a cabinet. Simply close the cabinet doors when you are finished watching TV.
-
Step 2
You can purchase a cabinet chest that has an electric TV lift inside. The TV lift will raise the TV when you want to watch it. When not in use, the TV lift will lower and be out of sight. This method is extremely effective for the foot of a bed.
-
Step 3
If your TV hangs on a wall, you can put a transparent framed mirror over it. The mirror will look like a regular mirror until the TV is turned on, then the TV will shine through the mirror.
-
Step 4
You can get a revolving piece of cabinetry that has a TV on one side and artwork on the other. When the TV is not being watched, simply rotate the cabinet 180 degrees and the TV is hidden and the artwork is visible.
-
Step 5
Consider adding a decorative frame to your TV to treat it as artwork. When the TV is not in use, you can play a DVD of family photos, famous pieces of art, or a fireplace.
-
Step 6
You can get a piece of canvas art to cover your TV. The art is similar to a roller shade. It come with a frame that surrounds the TV and is rolled up on a tube behind the top of the frame. There is a motor connected to a remote which unrolls the artwork over the TV when it is not in use.
-
Step 7
There are also under bed TV lifts. These mechanisms hide a TV under the bed and deploy the TV when you want to watch it. The TV starts under the bed, then it slides out past the foot of the bed, eventually folding up to a vertical position for watching.

on 2/17/2009 Wow, I had NO idea all these options were available for hiding a TV. I've put a pillowcase over my little one in the bedroom before and thought I was on to something! ha!

on 12/14/2008 I love this article. I love the idea of the T.V. being out of sight out of mind until it's family movie time. I do NOT like the TV taking center stage in my home. Quality time is important to me. Sometimes I just throw a pretty basket over it:) 5*
