Things You'll Need:
- Yourself and an open mind.
-
Step 1
One thing is to remember , that you do not have to be alone. I highly recommend you not to be. I will start this by saying , I am not a doctor and if you are experiencing extreme depression please seek professional advice.
-
Step 2
One christmas I was alone due to my apprenticeship and being far away from family. I will not ever do that to myself again . I was in tears , no contact with anyone and it was just an overall horrible experience.
The following year , alone again , I decided to make the most of it. I grabbed the local rag (newspaper) and found out what celebrations were going on in the town. Now I am a female , so I will stress it may not be the best idea to go out alone , so make sure you go to well lit areas where many people are and somewhere you trust.
I choose one of my favorite dives in the area. When I first got there , there we not many others. As the night moved on I started seeing more and more friendly familiar faces and even some of their family members. I ended up having a wonderful night. -
Step 3
Yet , this might not be the best thing for you to do . Talk with other friends, and try to find someone to talk to and keep you company. Make phone calls to family on these days , and close people to you .
Open your heart more , try to make friends with someone maybe you normal would not. The thing is , do not be alone . I have found there are many people that spend the holidays alone and it causes them pain and I know if you are willing to open you eyes and your heart , you can find someone not only to cheer you up , but that needs your love also. -
Step 4
So for all you bah hum bugs out there. Wake up and spread a little cheer, you never know you might be that one light in another persons life that day , and they maybe yours . I wish you all the happiest of holidays. Please be safe and open your heart .
