Host a Christmas Tree Trimming Party

What better way to decorate the tree than with the help of loved ones?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Invitations
  • Food
  • Drinks
  • Ornaments
  • Christmas music
  • Camera
  1. Step 1

Decide on the date and time of your party and send out invitations. You can print festive invitations right from your computer, or to save on postage, send email invitations.

  2. Step 2

At many tree trimming parties, it is traditional to request that each guest bring an ornament. However, if you don’t want to ask your guests to spend the money this year, you may want to skip this part and just decorate the tree with the ornaments you already have.

  3. Step 3

Making an ornament for each guest is another option. To add a personal touch, how about getting small photo frames from the dollar store and adding a picture of your guests to each frame. Glue on a ribbon hanger and have each guest hang their photo ornament on the tree. Then you can have a keepsake of everyone who helped you create your beautiful tree.

  4. Step 4

Plan a menu. For this type of party, a menu that allows for mingling is best. Setting up some finger foods and drinks in a buffet/bar style would work well. Food that is meant for a sit down dinner would probably not be best as you want your guests to be able to mix and mingle as they decorate

  5. Step 5

Set the lighting to set the mood. Before your guests arrive, have the tree already in place and lit up and all your other Christmas décor completed so that there is a festive ambience and all that is left for the guests to participate in is the actual tree trimming. Nobody wants to come to a tree trimming party and be asked to assist in climbing ladders to hang lights or anything extravagant like that.

  6. Step 6

Play Christmas music. Have some cd’s on hand or a mix of Christmas MP3’s to play from your sound system. Some cable stations even have holiday music channels you can simply set your television channel to and enjoy Christmas music all evening.

  7. Step 7

Have fun. Don’t fret if someone puts an ornament out of place or bunches up too much tinsel on one branch. You can always tweak your tree later, the idea is for everyone to participate and have a good time.

  8. Step 8

Once the tree is complete, snap a group photo in front of the tree. You can later print out copies and use them to send as thank you’s to each guest who attended the party.
