Step 1
It is recommended that you begin taking an herb orally to assist the liver in cleansing the blood. The most effective herbs for this are dandelion leaves, burdock root, red clover, and milk thistle. Helping your liver to function it's best and remove excess hormones from the body will improve acne.
-
Step 2
Two of the herbs mentioned above, dandelion leaves and burdock root, can be used directly on the skin as an herbal treatment. Inulin in these herbs provide a powerful anti-bacterial agent that will help treat acne. Make a paste from the herbs by grinding them. If the herbs are dry, you will need to add enough warm water to form a paste. Spread the paste evenly over a scrap of white cotton sheet, cheesecloth, or similar fabric. Place this on the area effected by acne for at least one hour. Overnight treatment is ideal if possible.
-
Step 3
Chaste berry tea is an excellent herbal treatment and remedy for acne if the acne is caused by fluctuating hormones. If your acne is induced by puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, menopause, or birth control pills, one cup of chaste berry tea each day is recommended. Do not over use the tea. One cup each day is plenty.
-
Step 4
Tea tree oil or Lavender oil applied directly to the skin is naturally anti-biotic and antiseptic and can dramatically improve acne. The tea tree oil may be diluted slightly with water before applying to the skin. If the tea tree oil is particularly helpful in treating your acne, also reduce the amount of sugar you consume and increase the amount of garlic in your diet.
