Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PVC Cement
  • PVC Pipe 1 ¼" diameter
  • Five 30" pipe
  • Twelve 12" pipes
  • Eight 8" pipes
  • Two 6" pipes
  • Eight elbow connectors
  • Eight T connectors
  • Four 4-way connectors
  • Six clamps
  • Sheet of canvas
  • One seat cushion
  • Rubber mallet
  • Saw
  1. Step 1

Prepare your PVC pipes being sure that the PVC tubes are clean and dust free. Cut the pipe to the required lengths, being certain the ends of each pipe is flat and even.

  2. Step 2

Build the base first. Starting with the 30” pipe and place a T connector on each end. Attach a 12” pipe to each T end. Create two I-shaped pieces, then put the second aside. Place an elbow at the end of each 12” pipe and position it to point outward. Then attach an 8” pipe. A base shaped like an I and 4 side posts. At the top of each post, attach a 4-way connector.

Using the second I-shaped piece, make the seat support. Fit the I-shaped piece into the 4-way connectors. Attach the remaining 30” lengths of pipe onto the front and back of the 4-way connectors. At the top of each of the 4-way connectors, attach an 8” length of pipe. Add an elbow at each of the front corners and a T connector at each of the backs. Connect each arm with 2 12” pieces of pipe joined with a T connector.

  4. Step 4

Create the chair back next. The back T connectors secure a 6” length of pipe, then add an elbow joint at the top. Use the remaining 30” pipe to connect into each of the top elbows forming the back rail. Glue the elbow joints and T connectors. Apply a fine layer of the PVC cement to the ½” of the pipe end to be connected, sliding the pipe into the connector.

  5. Step 5

Use the mallet to secure each joint. Secure canvas around the seat support beam from the front to the back, and over the top of the back rail. Pull the canvas tight and secure with clamps. Add a decorative cushion of your choice and settle in to enjoy the evening on your patio.
