How to improve your situp muscles

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Just yourself
  1. Step 1

Improving your situps can be accomplished by doing this exercise every day. Start off by lying on your back in the situp position with your feet unsupported. Knees bent, hands behind your head. For you beginners, cross your hands over your chest or keep them down at your sides.

  2. Step 2

It's important to try to keep your feet as flat to the ground as you can. Your feet will naturally come up a little, but work hard to keep them down. This will come with time.

  3. Step 3

Now do your situps like you normally would. Inhaling on the way down and exhaling on the way up. Be sure to keep your feet flat. This will incorporate your hip flexors which will greatly improve your situps. Getting in a rhythm will make this exercise easier. Start off by aiming for 25 and gradually build up to 100 or more.

  4. Step 4

Do this exercise religiously everyday. I do it every night before I take a shower, so there's no excuse why I can't do it daily. Your abs are different than most muscles. They can be worked hard every day and will recover before the next day's workout.

Tips & Warnings
  • Doing this exercise every day WILL improve your situps, but do it every day to get the maximum benefit.
  • Don't push yourself too hard at first. It's difficult to stick with a program if you become so sore that it's painful. A little sore is good, but know your limits.
