Make sure to drink plenty of water! One of the main causes of dry skin is dehydration. Since our bodies are about 70% water, drinking water is the most natural way to hydrate your skin.

Dry, scaly and flaky skin is caused by dead skin cells resting on the surface of your skin. Most people think that the way to exfoliate is to use a bath scrub sponge or puff. That is fine for the first use, but after one use you need to throw the puff away. While sitting in the shower, sponges and puffs never fully dry out. Bacteria and mold grow in all the crevices of the puff, and the next time you use it you are scrubbing mold into your skin. Yuck! Throw away your puff!

Instead, use an exfoliating cream in the shower. You can mix it with your body wash and use it all over your body. The best and most budget friendly cream is apricot scrub. This scrub contains tiny little beads that scrub off dead skin cells and cleanse at the same time. Using this cream helps to reveal the new smooth skin under that layer of dead skin.

Once out of the shower, gently pat dry and apply a very thick, moisture rich cream all over your body. I have found that body butter works very well because it is so thick. The thinner and runnier the lotion means the less moisturizing it will really do.

Wait several minutes before getting dressed to allow the moisturizing cream to fully penetrate the skin.

Repeat these steps several times a week to ensure beautifully smooth skin!

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use the apricot scrub on areas that are freshly shaven. Shaving is an exfoliator in itself, and using apricot scrub will irritate the skin after shaving.
