These jelly thumbprint cookies are easy to make and delicious. They will be a festive and colorful addition to your Christmas cookie plates.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • jelly or jam
  1. Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees

  2. Step 2

Mix together the butter, white sugar, brown sugar and egg yolks and vanilla.

  3. Step 3

Blend in the flour until everything is thoroughly mixed. Scrape the sides of the bowl as you go.

  4. Step 4

Place one inch balls of dough onto a cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Press your thumb into the center of each ball to make a dent.

  5. Step 5

Use a spoon or knife to add a small amount of jelly or jam to the dent in each cookie.

  6. Step 6

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the cookies are light golden brown on the edges and bottom.

  7. Step 7

Some variations: Try a variety of jams and jellies for different flavors. Before baking, sprinkle a little bit of sugar on top of the cookies to make them sparkle.

Tips & Warnings
  • Only put enough jelly onto the cookies to fill the dent. If you put too much it will drip down the sides during baking.
