Make Some Extra Money

Who couldn’t use some extra money? I’ll give you some ideas to put a little extra cash in your wallet.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Have a rummage sale. Go through your closet, attic and basement to find items to sell. If you have a rummage sale with a few friends you’ll have more items to attract buyers-and you’ll have fun too! Put reasonable prices on the items you are selling. You want to make money but if you price your items too high they won’t sell.

  2. Step 2

If a rummage sale isn’t your thing, try selling on eBay. It’s easy to set up an account. You have to pay a small listing fee and a portion of the final sale price to eBay.

  3. Step 3

Join eHow and sign up for the Writer Compensation Program. It’s easy, free and fun. Write How to articles and the money will start rolling in. Okay, maybe trickling in but it will add up quickly.

  4. Step 4

Turn in aluminum cans for cash. It may not be much but a little is better than none.

  5. Step 5

Turn your talents into cash. If you can play an instrument teach lessons or play at events. If you have a teaching degree or expertise in a specific subject area, offer tutoring. If you’re handy around the house do repairs – you get the idea.

  6. Step 6

Start your own business. For little start up cost you can clean houses, help people get organized, walk dogs, etc.

  7. Step 7

Review your W-2 allowances. If you are getting a large tax return you may want to consider making some changes to your W-2. Your paycheck may get bigger but you’ll get less of a return. Ok, so you’re not really making money but it’s a little extra money now rather than later.

  8. Step 8

Ask your employer if there is anything you can do to make some extra money. Maybe there are some extra duties you could do or an additional project.

  9. Step 9

Become a consultant for a home party product. There are so many out there: food, toys, jewelry, purses, home décor, you’re sure to find one that fits your interests.

  10. Step 10

Get creative and you’ll come up with a way to make some extra money.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you decide to clean houses, do house repairs etc., use caution and common sense when going somewhere unfamiliar.
