Moving is an exhausting and expensive task that everyone faces from time to time. Knowing how to eat cheap while moving can save you time and money while you're on the go. This article will show you how...

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Invest in a cooler. Packing your own meals and drinks into a cooler will save you quite a bit of money and also time while you're on the move. Choose a cooler that is appropriate for the size of your family. Consider using one cooler for drinks and another for food. Purchase a large bag of ice to pack into your cooler and freeze bottled water and juice to help keep things cool.

Pack each cooler with sandwiches, bottled water and juice, yogurt and other nutritious choices.

  2. Step 2

Instead of purchasing individual sized bags of chips, crackers, nuts, trail mix, cookies or other snacks, buy a full sized box and divide it into small portions, storing them in resealable plastic bags. Keep them all together in a large bag or basket for easy grabbing on the go.

  3. Step 3

Take advantage of any microwaves found at gas stations. Pack meals into tupperware containers, store in the cooler and reheat when you stop for gasoline. Frozen burritos and hot dogs reheat quickly and are easy to consume while driving as long as any toppings or condiments are kept to a minimum. Ramen noodles in cups and canned soups are also cheap meals if you are willing to stop for awhile while you eat.

  4. Step 4

Avoid vending machines at rest stops and only buy food and drinks at gas stations if it's a necessity, as most items are way overpriced. Make and pack your own food to save the most money on meals during your move.
