When you have unsecured debts that are delinquent, collectors may continuously call you. You do have rights that they are supposed to respect. If they fail to respect them then you also have tools to take action against them with.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • computer
  1. Step 1

Collect the information on the collector or creditor that is calling you. It's important to get as much information as possible before you file your complaint against them; and inform them that you are going to report them to the FTC.

  2. Step 2

Go online from a computer and type in http://www.ftc.gov in the subject line.

  3. Step 3

click the "consumer protection" tab; it should be the fourth tab across the top from left to right. It is the tab on the top bar of options.

  4. Step 4

click the "file a complaint" tab from the drop down tab bar that shows up.

  5. Step 5

On the right side of the screen you will see complaint assistant. It is a large picture that you cannot miss. Once you click on it questions will appear. The FTC estimates that it will take 5 minutes t file a formal complaint. The online system was designed to save some trees; so if your into that sort of thing pat yourself on the back.
Answer all of the questions to the best of your ability; that's it you are done.
