Things You'll Need:
- old, broken crayons
- muffin tin you don't mind disposing of
- solid colored table linens
- paint brush
- commercial dye, such as Rit
-
Step 1
Sort the crayons into muffin cups for as many colors as you want to use. Put the tin in a pan of water and melt on low heat on the stove or in the microwave.
-
Step 2
If you like, you can draw designs on the table linens, and then paint them, or you can just paint the designs freehand, using the melted crayons for paint.
-
Step 3
Wrinkle the linens to crush the design until the wax cracks.
-
Step 4
Carefully dip the cloth into the hot commercial dye of your choice. Follow the instructions on the dye. When the dye is dry, you will have a lovely batik design.
