Make And Give Bread For Christmas, Birthdays, Teacher Appreciation Day, etc

You can bake a loaf of bread in the oven or in a bread machine. To me, making bread in the bread machine makes life easier. There are a variety of different recipes and types of bread you can make.

Of course the simplest way would be to purchase a loaf of bread from like Panera Bread, Great Harvest Bread Company, or a local bakery.

The saying to attach with your bread gift is "No matter how you slice it, you are a great neighbor! Merry Christmas!" You can change neighbor for teacher, friend, coach, etc. Also you can change Merry Christmas for other occasions like Happy Birthday.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • bread machine (makes it easier, but not necessary)
  • oven (if not using a bread machine)
  • ingredients for the bread recipe you choose
  • paper
  • pen
  • computer (not necessary)
  • printer (not necessary)
  • ziplock
  • cellophane
  • gift bag
  1. Step 1

Choose what bread recipe you want to make. One of our favorites is a Cheese Herb Bread. The link to this recipe is in the resources at the end of this article.

  2. Step 2

Follow the directions on the bread recipe. Most bread machine recipes can also be cooked in a loaf pan in the oven. For the Cheese Herb recipe above, one of the review on the bottom of the page by ANNIESIM tells how they cooked this in the oven.

  3. Step 3

Once your bread is cooked, let it cool. I like to keep mine inside the bread machine to cool.

  4. Step 4

After your bread is cool, you can place it in a ziplock bag or wrap it in Christmas cellophane with a ribbon on top.

  5. Step 5

Now from your computer, print off or hand write the saying, "No matter how you slice it, you are a great neighbor. Merry Christmas!"

  6. Step 6

You can place the saying and bread inside a gift bag if you want to.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you use a computer to print the saying out, you can use different color fonts, or print it on colored paper.
  • You might want to include the recipe so if they can make it again themselves.
  • Make the bread within a day or two of when you are going to be giving the gift away.
