Choosing your preschooler's first Bible is an important decision. You want a Bible that will interest your child, but also teach the lessons you feel are most important. There are many versions available and here are some tips for choosing a Bible for preschooler.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Looks for a Bible that is age appropriate. This is probably one of the most important things to consider when looking for a preschool Bible. Be sure the Bible you choose is one that a younger child can relate to and understand.

  2. Step 2

Most of the preschool Bibles will concentrate on specific lessons from the Bible. You will seldom find a Bible that is comprehensive for this age group. Look for a Bible that will focus on specific lessons that your feel are important to you and your family.

  3. Step 3

Most of the Bibles available for preschoolers will have bright and colorful illustrations and easy to follow story lines. This is very important, as it will help your preschool remain interested in the Bible. The stories should not be long and intense, but should be short and concise in what the lesson is teaching.

  4. Step 4

You do not want a large clumsy preschool Bible. Many children carry their favorite book around with them and they often want to take it with them when they leave the house. Choose a book that is suited for smaller hands.

  5. Step 5

A paperback Bible story book is probably not the best Bible for preschoolers. Try to locate a Bible that is sturdy and has thicker pages. Many of the preschool Bibles are made of plastic pages. This can be a great benefit. The pages are not easily torn, and it is easy to clean up if something is spilled on it.

  6. Step 6

A preschool Bible should contain people the child can remember. Many of the best lessons of the Bible will focus on popular Bible characters, which can make it easier for the child to remember. Think about Jesus, Noah, and Moses. These people are who a child can connect with and begin to understand some of the concepts of Bible teachings.

  7. Step 7

You want to be sure there are Bible verses for your child to become familiar with. This is important so your child does not completely lose the formatting of the Bible. Simple Bible verses can be fun for children to memorize and they will be proud to recite the verses to anyone who will listen.

Tips & Warnings
  • Once you have chosen the right Bible for your preschooler, don't let it go to waste. Be sure you spend a few minutes everyday with your child and the Bible so they can reap the rewards of learning about God and his purpose for us.
