Weight loss doesn't always come easy and if you're needing to lose 100 pounds or more, looking at the whole picture can seem not only overwhelming, but hopeless. That's why you don't look at the whole picture. There are several ways for you to keep yourself on track and reach the end goal. Learn how to lose 100 pounds (or more!) by following these steps.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • weighing scales
  • notebook
  • pen
  • outfit a size or two smaller than you are now
  1. Step 1

Hop on the scales and see how much you weigh. Write it down in your notebook and write the date along side it.

  2. Step 2
    Weight Loss Goals
    Weight Loss Goals

Write down your goal weight. What do you want to weigh when you're at your dream weight? The trick is to NOT focus on the end weight, but focus on the next 10 pounds. If you focus on weight loss in 10 pound increments, you'll have many joys and milestones to celebrate and you won't be as apt to get depressed or discouraged for not accomplishing all of the weight loss at once.

  3. Step 3
    Weight Loss Tricks

Dig through your closet and find an outfit a size or two smaller than you are. When you try it on, it should fit weird - not zipping up or not fitting over your hips. Maybe the blouse or shirt seems so far from buttoning up it's ridiculous. Take this outfit and hang it on the wall somewhere in your bedroom. Every time you look at this outfit, envision yourself wearing it. You'll have something to work toward and it's not like you're staring at a size 2. A size or two smaller is definitely within reach. It's a reasonable goal and you won't be setting yourself up for failure. Your weight loss journey won't be nearly as stressful this way.

Don't worry if you can't zip up those pants. Adhere to these steps and, with persistence and dedication, you'll slip them on in no time - and have to donate them or sell them before long because they'll be too big!

  5. Step 5

Write notes and put them around the house, on the fridge, on your closet door, on your mirror... The notes can be encouraging quotes, scriptures, or even your own words. If you use your own words, you can write something like: I can do this! I'm beautiful! I'm healthy and fit! A few short words or sentences will help motivate you to continue with your weight loss efforts.

  6. Step 6
    Weight Loss Foods
    Weight Loss Foods

Go grocery shopping. If you can afford it, purchase organic items. These don't have the harsh chemicals and additives other foods have (which might cause weight gain, hinder your weight loss efforts, etc.). Stock up on organic eggs, fish, (chicken if you eat meat), and lots of veggies. There's no need to bombard yourself with tons of fruit at this point because it does contain natural sugars and you can consume too much fruit. Also pick up some fiber-rich foods such as: berries, apples, dark greens, raw nuts (avoid that salt!), and brussel sprouts.

  7. Step 7
    Omelets for Weight Loss
    Omelets for Weight Loss

Enjoy an omelet for breakfast. Research shows that people who eat protein for breakfast perform better at work, school, and aren't as likely to be hungry and grab that mid-morning donut or candy bar. You can add your favorite ingredients: mushrooms, a little cheese (don't go crazy), herbs, spinach, tomatoes, olives... The possibilities are endless!

  8. Step 8
    Protein for Weight Loss

Snack on protein throughout the day. Just a small handful of (raw) nuts, seeds, or a boiled egg can make all the difference in the world. It will not only satisfy you and give you strength, but help your metabolism stay geared up for burning that fat!

  9. Step 9

At this point, you may not be able to exercise. No worries if you can't. (Check the Resources below for more information on "How to Achieve Weight Loss if You Can't Exercise.)

  10. Step 10
    Rebounding for Weight Loss
    Rebounding for Weight Loss

However, if you are able to exercise a few fun things to start out with (that will be easier on your body) are: rebounding (check out "Experience Weight Loss While Having Fun" in the Resources below), walking, or swimming.

  11. Step 11
    Wii Fit
    Wii Fit

Weight loss is also achievable with the very cool Wii Fit game. Hey, why not get the entire family involved? You can bond, laugh, and get healthier - all the the same time! (More about Wii Fit game in the Resources listed below.)

Tips & Warnings
  • Whatever you do, keep going. If you eat a donut one day or fail to exercise, or even go off your weight loss plan for a few days - or even weeks - get back at it. Weight loss is a journey and it can be frustrating but the end result is priceless.
  • Before you begin any fitness or weight loss routine, see a physician or holistic health professional.
