Things You'll Need:
- Moisturizing lotion
- Sea Salt
- Baking Soda
- Razor
- Loofah or other exfoliating body scrubber
- Water
-
Step 1
Warm baths are not only a relaxing luxury they are also a perfect way to begin soothing dry skin. Add a cup of sea salt to each bath along with a half cup of baking soda. These work in combination to soothe and nourish your body.
-
Step 2
As you soak continue to treat your skin by exfoliating. Buildup of dead skin cells leaves your body with a dry lackluster appearance. This layer of dead skin is what causes you to itch, flake and suffer from irritation. Exfoliation is the key to revealing beautiful skin. Using a loofah gently scrub from head to toe. This exercise will reveal a glowing rosy layer of healthy skin. Ladies, shave your legs as often as you feel comfortable. The action of shaving carries even more dead skin away from your body.
-
Step 3
Immediately after drying off from your bath apply a rich moisturizing lotion. This locks in the moisture remaining on your skin and keeps you softer and itch free longer. Re-apply lotion as often as you need, especially as a protective layer before venturing outdoors.
-
Step 4
Don't forget to moisturize from within. Make certain to stay well hydrated at all times. It is very easy to drink less fluids in the winter as physical activity levels drop off during cold weather. Consume at least 64 ounces of water daily for ideal hydration. Taking care of winter skin doesn't have to be difficult, just remember to exfoliate and hydrate.

on 12/10/2008 I have to disagree with NakedWriter. I find it easy to drink water in the winter but if I'm having a hard time I make some green tea. Still get my water and some helpful antioxidants as well. I think the article is great. I have Lupus which makes for some pretty itchy & dry skin so this article was very helpful.
