Many of us have heard the phrase "Well, you just can't fix stupid." This can be true to some extent, but one can always try to fix their stupidity.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • stupidity
  1. Step 1

To try to fix stupidity we must first understand the meaning of it. The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines it as: (a) slow of mind or (b) given to unintelligent decisions or acts.

  2. Step 2

To attempt to fix stupid you must first determine who is being stupid. Is it yourself or someone else? Of course, you must realize it is pretty hard to fix someone else. To try would be just plain, well, stupid. It boils down to this - the only person you can fix is yourself. You can make suggestions to another person, but that person will have to be the one to take action.

  3. Step 3

Remember that stupid is in the eye of the beholder. With that being said, what is stupid to one person may not be stupid to another. Even smart people will act stupidly on occasion. Who's really to say what is stupid and what is not? Something may appear to be dumb, but in reality it could really end up being smart.

  4. Step 4

Surely you have some idea of what being stupid is. Remember what Forrest Gump said, "Stupid is as stupid does". This means that you can tell by a person's actions whether they are acting stupid. That being said, if you recognize stupidity you must have also been guilty of it before.

  5. Step 5

If you are the person acting stupidly, just stop it. Remember Albert Einstein is the one who said that the definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Change the way you are doing things to get better results. If that doesn't work, try something else. Don't give up.
