Things You'll Need:
- a wood stove
- paper
- kindling
- wood
- a match or lighter
-
Step 1
Wood StoveIf you don't already have one, purchase a wood stove.
-
Step 2
PaperFirst, you'll take paper (this can be newspaper or any other sheets of paper) and wad several pieces into balls.
-
Step 3
Place the wadded paper balls in the bottom of the wood stove.
-
Step 4
Burning PaperTake your match or lighter and set the paper on fire.
-
Step 5
KindlingAdd small pieces of kindling and/or bark on top of that.
-
Step 6
Flames IncreasingAllow the flames to increase.
-
Step 7
Now, put a (small) piece of wood on top of that making sure not to smother out the fire you have started. If you notice the fire flickering out, simply leave the lid open a tiny bit so some air can circulate and make the fire stronger.
-
Step 8
Wood PileOnce the fire is really burning strongly, add a bigger piece of wood.
-
Step 9
You also need to take the poker and stir the fire up a bit to keep it alive.
-
Step 10
Fire BurningNow that you've built a fire that lasts, you can cook something delicious or enjoy a cozy evening with your favorite person/people!
-
Step 11
Fire ExtinguisherBuilding fires is serious. Be careful not to burn yourself and keep a (working) fire extinguisher nearby.
