Jello shots are very popular -- especially to those who don't like the taste of alcohol. They can be made ahead of time, they don't spill and they go down like water. Here is how to make a standard vodka shooter. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 16 oz. water for boiling
  • 6 oz. cold water
  • 10 oz. vodka

Instructions

    • 1

Add 16 oz. water to a pot and bring it to a rolling boil on high heat.

    • 2

Add the Jello powder package to the boiling water and stir it in until it is completely dissolved.

    • 3

Remove the pan from the heat, and place on a potholder on your counter.

    • 4

Add 6 oz. cold water and 10 oz. vodka to the pot. This can be standard, non-flavored vodka. Stir well.

    • 5

Pour the final mixture into small containers for consumption.

Refrigerate for around 2 to 4 hours until firm, or longer if you have a party planned for later in the day or the following evening.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use different types of containers for Jello shots. The best ones are the small plastic condiment cups. You can also use Dixie cups (no muss, no fuss!) or standard shot glasses. If you plan on using shot glasses, spray some non-stick cooking oil before filling -- Jello tends to stick to shot glasses.

  • Remember, even though you can't taste the alcohol, it's in there! Be aware of how many shooters you are having, and always have a designated driver when attending parties with alcohol.
