-
Step 1
Reduce or better yet get rid of the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes
-
Step 2
Have a healthy balanced diet filled with calcium and Vitamin D
-
Step 3
Exercise or practice some sports, the intensity of your work out will depend on your age and lifestyle, but walking 30 minutes a day is a good start
-
Step 4
Get out in the sun at least 10 minutes a day (this is harder during winter months but you can take a Vitamin D supplement), but exposing legs and arms to the sun is good for the Vitamin D (of course wear sunscreen)
-
Step 5
Get an annual check up with your family doctor

on 12/22/2008 My doctor also recommended dropping sodas too. The phosphorus (or something) in sodas interferes with calcium absorption, I believe.
