My kids always loved having their own little meatloaf on their plates. Here is a delicious way to serve meatloaf, and it looks great.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1lb lean ground beef
  • one small onion
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • tbls garlic powder
  • tsp salt
  • tsp pepper
  • 2 cans beef broth
  • three large onions
  • 1 tbls gravy master
  • flour or corn starch
  • broiler pan
  • deep frying pan or shallow pot
  1. Step 1

In a large bowl mix your lean ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, worcesteshire sauce and spices. Grate the small onion and add to the meat and mix.

  2. Step 2

Depending on the portion size you want, divide the mixture into 3 or 4 portions. Mold each portion into the shape of a meat loaf.

  3. Step 3

Place on broiler pan ( this allows grease to fall away from the meat), and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes or until done.

  4. Step 4

While your meatloaf is in the oven, slice your 3 large onions. Using a deep fry pan or shallow pot, saute the sliced onions in a couple tbls of margarine or olive oil. Add your 2 cans of beef broth and gravy master ( the gravy master is optional, but it gives a rich brown color to the gravy) to the pan and bring to a boil, Then turn down to a simmer.

  5. Step 5

In a small cup put a couple tbls of flour or corn starch. Slowly add water to make a thin pourable paste. Be sure to stir enough to get any lumps out.

  6. Step 6

Slowly stir flour or corn starch mixture to the broth, and continue to simmer low until the meatoaf is done.

  7. Step 7

When the meat loaf is done, add to the gravy, cover and simmer another 15 minutes. It's ready serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your short for time, you can use a few pkgs of instant gravy
  • You can also saute green peppers with the onions
  • This can be served with rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes.
  • If you don't mind the extra fat the meatlaof can be cooked in any baking dish.
  • if you don't want to grate the small onion, you can substitute with onion a pkg of onion soup mix
