How to install your solar heater is relatively easy.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Solar Heater
  • Window
  1. Step 1
The back of the solar heater

Any window, with a few adjustments will make a fine place for your solar heater.

  2. Step 2

Keep in mind, while looking for the exact spot for your solar heater, you will need a place in the sun, usually that is facing south. Also keep in mind, before you pemanently attach that solar heater, that summer will be coming around, right on schedule. Since you don't want your home to be extremely hot during the summer time, then how and where you install it is very important, unless you have a seperate winter home.

  3. Step 3

If you have a winter home, you may remove the window or cut a seperate spot for your solar heater to fit right in. This solar heater, with the sun hitting directly on it in the winter time, even in the wind and ice, will raise the temperature of your home very nicely.

  4. Step 4

If you live a regular house that you live in year round, then you really want to first consider your options. First, do you want to take that solar heater out on a yearly basis, and replace it with a window? If not, then you may want to think of other alternatives, like setting it inside a clean clear glass window. You will not get the maximum output of heat, but it will certainly heat your home. Perhaps you have a window that has exactly the measurements of the solar heater, if so, simply raise the window, and set your solar heater in. Secure it with a clamp, and you have heat..as soon as the sun comes up. Using solar heaters is a great way to lessen your daily heating costs, even if you are using wood or gas, those have to be paid for too, in one form or another.

  5. Step 5

Don't permanently install unless you are prepared to also add a wooden shutter or door on the outside of that window or spot that you have choosen. Installing the shutters/door will prevent the sun from hitting the solar heater over the course of the summer time. Of course, you won't have access to that window until the late fall of every year. So, do think carefully before permanently installing your solar heater.

Tips & Warnings
  • Enjoy your new source of heat, i do enjoy mine.
  • Winter only lasts for a few months. Make sure you know where to put your solar heater.
