How to Make Streusel Topped Pecan Pie Bars

This is a delicious recipe for holiday get-togethers. The pecan bars are good warm or cold! For an extra touch, serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • FOR CRUST:
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups margarine or softened butter
  • FOR FILLING:
  • 1 1/2 cups butter-flavored maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 13 x 9 Baking Pan
  1. Step 1

    Preheat your over to 400 degrees.

  2. Step 2

    In a large mixing bowl, combine the sifted flour, 3/4 cup brown sugar and 1 1/2 cups of margarine or softened butter. Mix until the mixture has a crumbly texture. Save a couple of cups of the mixture for the filling and topping.

  3. Step 3

    Very lightly grease a 13 x 10 baking pan. Put mixture that is not set aside in the bottom of a 13 x 10 baking pan. Press the mixture to the bottom and sides of the baking pan. Bake pie crust mixture for 10 minutes.

  4. Step 4

    Mix together 1/4 cup flour mixture, maple syrup, vanilla, eggs and pecans. Pour the mixture over the pie crust. Bake 10 minutes.

  5. Step 5

    Reduce the over temperature to 350 degrees.

  6. Step 6

    Sprinkle the remaining 1 1/2 flour mixture over the top of the filling. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. The topping should be a golden brown. When cooled, cut into bars.
