Christmas shopping for your children does not need to be a chore. It can easily be turned into an event you look forward to every year. You will be refreshed and ready to tackle a new year after spending a couple of days with this Christmas shopping plan.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wrapping paper or gift bags
  • Gift tags
  • Pen
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Motel Room
  • Babysitter
  1. Step 1

Make a list of all the things you would like to get for your children as Christmas gifts. If they wrote a letter to Santa Claus, you may want to bring that along as well. Write down all clothing and shoe sizes for each child. It's nice to put this on an index card to keep in your purse for any future shopping trips.

  2. Step 2

Arrange for a babysitter for at least two days and one night. Better if it's two nights but beggars can't be choosers. Take what you can get from your favorite babysitter. Let them know a special Christmas present will be waiting for them under the tree afterward.

  3. Step 3

Book a hotel for the amount of nights you will be away. Many hotels have discounted rates before Christmas time, especially in cold climate areas. Plan ahead. Making sure you have a hotel with a hot tub or pool is a real asset. Request that you be given a room on the ground floor. This will make carrying in your Christmas gifts easier.

  4. Step 4

Go out to eat in the morning. Do your Christmas shopping during the day, taking time to treat yourselves to a light lunch and bring your Christmas gifts back to your hotel room. You could go out to eat or choose to bring some takeout to the hotel room.

  5. Step 5

Go out to a movie, a show or just relax in the hot tub with your spouse. The evening should be dedicated to all things relaxing and enjoyable.

  6. Step 6

Wrap up all your Christmas gifts before checkout time the morning that you plan to head home. No more hiding gifts from those little Christmas gift detectives at home!

Tips & Warnings
  • Some resorts such as those attached to casinos will give out free hotel passes for their players club members.
  • Keep a running list of what you've purchased after each store you visit. This will help keep you organized and know when you have enough.
  • Buy the Christmas gifts for everyone on your list, not just the kids.

on 12/7/2008 Such a great idea! Turning Christmas shopping into a romantic getaway is such a wonderful idea! And it is so smart to make certain that the presents are wrapped before you return home, it can't be so hard to find time and make certain that the little ones don't see you. 5*****
