  1. Step 1

    Find a great domain name. The domain name chosen for the website needs to be easy to remember and focused on your niche. All browsers default a website name to (dot) com therefore you choose buy your first domain as a (dot) com.

  2. Step 2

    Choose a hosting plan. There are many hosting plans online today. For your first website, choosing a name brand host may help ease the anxiety surrounding the website uptime.

  3. Step 3

    Find a template. There are free templates available on the Internet that are geared toward any niche. These templates are perfect for a beginner website.

  4. Step 4

    Grab a free template editor. There are free, open source template editors like NVU that help the beginner adjust the content on the website before uploading the files to the site.

  5. Step 5

    Choose an FTP upload tool. FTP stands for file transfer protocol. This tool is necessary to move the finalized files from your desktop to the hosting account.

  6. Step 6

    Write relevant content. Before uploading the website, you will need to write some great, niche related content. The content needs to be copyright free and written with SEO rules in mind.
