Caring for a Toothache
Caring for a Toothache

Toothaches are generally caused by tooth decay that can be traced directly to diet. Food items such as candy, pastries, sugar, soft drinks and the like can be very damaging to the teeth. Neglecting the proper care for your teeth can quickly lead to toothaches and possibly some expensive dental work. Here are a few ways to care for a toothache:

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • garlic and rock salt
  • wheat grass juice
  • asafetida
  • toothbrush
  • antiseptic mouthwash
  • floss
  1. Step 1

One effective home remedy is to use garlic and rock salt on the affected tooth. It won't do much for your breath, but is a pretty good pain reliever and can even cure the toothache altogether. In addition, chewing a garlic clove on a daily basis even makes the cured tooth stronger.

  2. Step 2

Another great cure for toothaches is the use of wheat grass juice. Simply use it as a mouthwash or you can chew on wheat grass. The wheat grass actually eliminates toxins and prevents bacterial growth.

  3. Step 3

Asafetida, a product of a plant from Afghanistan and exported around the world, is a very bad smelling resin or gum that is also known to have medicinal properties that can cure everything from flatulence to alcoholism, including the toothache! It was believed in times past that the odor is so bad that it wards off germs.

  4. Step 4

The best way to care for a toothache is to prevent it before it happens through good oral hygiene. Remember to brush after every meal and always carry floss to get in between the teeth and gum where bacteria likes to hide. The old saying is true here, "an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure."
