In addition to Cisco's Entry, Associate, Professional and Expert Certificates, Cisco offers Specialist Certifications to verify knowledge and expertise in a more focused specialty. Specialist Certifications are available in the following categories: Advanced Routing & Switching, Data Center, Foundation for Channels Partners, Unified Communications, Security, and Wireless LAN.

According to Cisco, "The Cisco Wireless LAN focused certifications indicates significant knowledge of relevant factors involved in designing, deploying and maintaining end-to-end Cisco Wireless LAN solutions throughout or between buildings, without the limitations of wires or cables. Designed exclusively for Cisco Channel Partners, the Advanced Wireless LAN Sales Specialist has demonstrated a strong understanding of wireless LAN features and benefits and the ability to assess customer needs, effectively position and sell Cisco wireless solutions and services."

1. PREREQUISITES - The prerequisite for the Cisco Advanced Wireless LAN Sales Specialist Certification is a valid Cisco Sales Expert: 646-204 CSE or 646-203 CSE.

2. RECOMMENDED TRAINING - Cisco recommends one training courses to help prepare you for this certification; Wireless LAN Advanced Sales (WLAS).

3. TAKE REQUIRED EXAM - Cisco requires one exam to attain this certification; 646-588 AWLANAM - Advanced Wireless LAN for Account Managers Exam (60 minute exam, 55-65 questions). This exam is intended primarily for Cisco Channel Partner Account Managers. This exam tests a candidate's knowledge of the features and benefits of Cisco wireless products; how the products are positioned within corporate office, large commercial, and vertical market environments; and the competitive differentiators of the products. 4. RECERTIFICATION - Cisco Specialist Certifications are valid for two years. To recertify, you will need to take and pass the current version of the required exam(s) or pass a current CCIE written exam.
