In addition to Cisco's Entry, Associate, Professional and Expert Certificates, Cisco offers Specialist Certifications to verify knowledge and expertise in a more focused specialty. Specialist Certifications are available in the following categories: Advanced Routing & Switching, Data Center, Foundation for Channels Partners, Unified Communications, Security, and Wireless LAN.

According to Cisco, "The Cisco IP Communications certifications validate proficiency in designing, installing, and supporting a multi-service network solution. The Cisco Advanced IP Communications Sales Specialist demonstrates a strong understanding of Cisco IP communications solutions. With an emphasis on voice solutions for the enterprise, individuals who achieve this certification have the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively assess, recommend, and guide implementation of IP Communications solutions tailored to address specific customer needs."

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    PREREQUISITES - The prerequisite for the Cisco Advanced IP Communications Sales Specialist Certification is a valid Cisco Sales Expert: 646-204 CSE or 646-203 CSE.

  2. Step 2

    RECOMMENDED TRAINING - Cisco recommends one training courses to help prepare you for this certification; IP Communications Advanced Sales (IPCAS). This is a two day course which is offered as a classroom only class. It is available through Cisco learning partners.

  3. Step 3

    TAKE REQUIRED EXAM - Cisco requires one exam to attain this certification; 646-230 AUCAM - Advanced Unified Communications AM (60 minute exam, with 50-55 questions). Once you are prepared to take your exam, you can register for it at Additional Resources Link #1 [below].

  4. Step 4

    RECERTIFICATION - Cisco Specialist Certifications are valid for two years. To recertify, you will need to take and pass the current version of the required exam(s) or pass a current CCIE written exam.
