Make Homemade Eggnog

Eggnog is almost synonymous with Christmas. Can you really even have Christmas without it? If you haven't whipped up a batch of homemade, you really should. Make someone's day this Christmas with this terrific recipe.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tbls powedered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • heavy whipping cream
  1. Step 1

Gather up your ingredients. We don't want you getting half way through and realize you don't have what you need! (Trust me, that tip comes from experience!)

  2. Step 2

For the Eggnog: Whip eggs. Mix 1 1/2 cup milk, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 tsp vanilla and eggs in a heavy sauce pan over medium heat. Cook for about 15 minutes until the mixture coats a metal spoon. Pour mixture into a glass bowl. Set bowl in a larger bowl filled with ice. Put in refrigerator for 24 hours.

  3. Step 3

Before eggnog is complete, mix up your whipped topping. Beat with electric mixer 1 cup whipping cream, vanilla and 2 tbls. powdered sugar until desired consistency is reached. Chill.

  4. Step 4

Put eggnog in festive Christmas glasses (of course!) and add a dollop of whipped cream. Garnish with cinnamon sprinkled on top and a candy cane.
