Things You'll Need:
- Several tote bags
-
Step 1
ACQUIRE A DOZEN OR SO TOTE BAGS. You can buy them for about a dollar each at a variety of places, including supermarkets, discount stores, craft stores and hardware stores.
-
Step 2
PUT SEVERAL TOTES IN EACH CAR. Use these bags instead of plastic or paper grocery bags when you go to the supermarket. They're stronger than store bags and are kinder to the environment.
-
Step 3
ASSIGN A TOTE TO EACH ACTIVITY. For example, if you go to the gym, pack a tote with your workout clothes and supplies. Into lapidary? Keep your rocks, eye protection, and other gear in another tote. Knitter? Keep yarn, knitting needles and project in another tote. With a tote for each activity, you have all the gear you need for one activity in one place, ready to go.
-
Step 4
GIVE THE KIDS A TOTE... so they can pack up their toys and put them away when they're done playing with them.
-
Step 5
KEEP A TOTE BY THE DOOR... so you'll always have a bag to throw miscellaneous things in when you run your errands (books to the library, letters to the P.O., etc.)

on 1/24/2009 Great advice, and i love the tongue in cheek tone too. If you don't know it already, then you should check out Tim Minchin's "Take Your Canvas Bags (To The Supermarket)" :-D
