Make a Coupon Binder
Make a Coupon Binder

A coupon binder is a good way to store your coupons and keep them organized. It keeps all your coupons together and is ready to go with you to the store so you have your coupons for those "unadvertised sales".

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A 3- Binder with a zipper
  • Collector card plastic holders for 3 ring binder
  • tabs
  • something to label with
  • pad of paper (optional)

Start with a binder with a zipper on it. The zipper is important so you don't loose any of your coupons.

  2. Step 2

Add collection card plastic pages (like for baseball cards) to your binder. I was able to get my inexpensively at k-mart. I have heard Hobby Lobby has them also.

  3. Step 3
    Here is my tab.

Use tabs to label the coupon categories. I used Post-it tabs and used my electric labeler to print out labels on clear stickers on stick them on the Post-it tabs. You could also use stick on tabs similar to what you use for file folders or page dividers that you buy for notebooks.

  4. Step 4

After you have your categories worked out, then start adding coupons. Put one type of coupon in each little pocket. You may have to fold them to make them fit. Just make sure you fold them so you can tell what product they are for.

  5. Step 5
    My pencil and paper cutter.

Other things you can keep in your binder are: weekly store ads, something to cut coupons (I have a special paper cutter that is made to cut gift wrap), a pencil, a pad of paper, your grocery list, a map of your favorite grocery store, price book and place to keep rainchecks.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may want to keep an envelope in your binder to stick coupons in while you are shopping. It's easier to just pull the coupon when you find your product and stick it aside. That way it is handy when you get to the checkout counter.
  • Label your binder well so the store doesn't think you are walking off with one of their products. I wrote coupons in large letters on the side in permanent ink.

on 4/11/2009 I totally use a coupon binder, but mine is not pretty at all. It's falling apart and has been duct taped back together! But it's a fabulous money saving tool.
