I make this every Christmas and usually double the receipe because my brothers fuss over who gets to take the extra pie home..this makes 2 pies. Most of these things are kept on hand. You also can make your own pastry pie shells, I like deep dish ones because these pies tend to rise while cooking and shrink when cooled.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 deep dish pastry pie shells
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • tsp vanilla
  • tblsp lemon juice
  • tblsp flour
  • stick of butter
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • hand mixer
  • bowl
  1. Step 1

Leave the pie shells frozen until you are ready to use them.
Preheat your oven to 350 Degrees while you gather your ingredients and tools. Dont forget your measuring cups & spoons ! I use Parkay stick butter because it seems to make the best pies. My mom swears it the same as off brands...but they seem more oily to me. ( your call)

  2. Step 2

Mix all ingredients in the bowl until the stick of butter is in tiny peices. I do this so one pie wont have more butter than the other.

  3. Step 3

Pour into pie shells and bake for one hour or until the tops are brown.
    slice and enjoy warm !

Tips & Warnings
  • Double the receipe and wrap each pie in foil, place a bow on top & give to friends and neighbors for Christmas !
  • I love them best warm!
  • Enjoy!
  • Refridgerate left overs , this is an egg based pie.
