We all know that the standard ringtones in a phone are boring, and we know the good one's cost money. So what do you do?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Verizon Wireless Cell Phone
  • Computer (with Internet)
  • A Quiet Room
  1. Step 1

Locate the menu on your Verizon Cell Phone. Goto the section listed as GET IT NOW. Once you are in the GET IT NOW section click the MUSIC & TONES selection. This will bring you to another page. Listed here are numerous things, V CAST Music, My Ringtones, Etc.

  2. Step 2

Select the MY SOUNDS section, which will direct you to another page. If you've never recorded anything in your phone (sound wise) then this part should be empty, except for one selection reading, RECORD NOW. Once you click on RECORD NOW you will be brought to a screen with a microphone on it. This will tell you to click start when you want to record. Of course your not going to record yet, that is where your computer comes into play.

  3. Step 3

Most people have a YouTube account, and if you don't, that's fine. Thankfully YouTube is free and you can watch all of the videos you want. This is where the sound, and sound recording comes in now. (Most ringtones are 15-30 seconds long, with your Verizon Cell Phone, 30 seconds is perfect). Find any song, or any artist that you like, and get ready to record. Once you've found the song, or your favorite part of it, pause it. Go back to your phone and hit OK, you will need ot listen for a beep which indicates recording has begun. Once you've got your sound clip, hit the button again to STOP recording. Most phones will automatically save the sound file - and usually the newest recoding is first at the list.

  4. Step 4

Now that you've located your newly recorded sound, click options and RE-name the file. This helps finding it in your phone. Once that is done, click options again and click SEND. Type in your own phone number for your cell, so you can recieve it in your texting INBOX. Once you recieve the message, click options on it, which will bring up another menu. You want to select the feature that says SAVE AS RINGTONE. Once you save it the tone will be in your ringtone section.

  5. Step 5

As in Step-1 go to your menu, select the GET IT NOW section, then the MUSIC & TONES section. Once there select MY RINGTONES - Your newly saved sound should be right in the list, remember what you named it, it should be easy to find. Highlight the RINGTONE, click SET-AS and choose what you'd like it to be fore, either MAIN RINGTONE, a CONTACT ID, or an ALERT SOUND. Once you select one of those, everything is done. Now you can make as MANY RINGTONES as you'd like at no cost.

Tips & Warnings
  • Find the best sound quality before you record.
  • Record your ringtone(s) in a quiet room for best results.
  • Record your sound at least 3 times, preview it, and select the best one.
  • DO NOT exploit the music of others as yours.
