Step 1
Visit shops that offer a variety of brands and types of paint brushes. Do not get easily attracted to popular brands or colorful kinds. Usually, you find these shops in malls or bookstores.
-
Step 2
Do not be reluctant in asking the sales clerk to show you the range of sizes of the paintbrush brand or type you have finally chosen. Sizes are measured according to the width of the hair on the brush. They range from 2 to 20.
-
Step 3
When you have chosen the right sizes. Remember, you must choose at least three sizes for your painting work. Test each size for the 'ease of grip' test. If your hand feels painful after a few strokes, change to a smaller size.
-
Step 4
Finally, test your brushes for smoothness of application on different surfaces by running them through either paper or wood without any paint applied on them. Once you are satisfied, you have chosen the right paintbrush for your painting work.
