Interview for a Job

Job interviews can be stressfully but with a few easy tips you can have a stress free interview.

From Quick Guide: Job Interviewing
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get your best interview clothes on. If your interview clothes are not comfortable you may want to go shopping for some new ones that are. Comfortable clothes make you feel comfortable and will help keep you at ease.

  2. Step 2

Practise what you are going to tell the employer about yourself. What are your quality's, experiences, and how are you going to improve their company.

  3. Step 3

Rehearse what questions they might ask. Many interviewers ask questions that are tough and may take you a few minutes to answer. Try to keep your cool when your stuck on a question. Take a deep breath and reword the question a bit if you need to. Or ask them to reword their question if it's to difficult for you to answer. But try an answer every question they ask.

  4. Step 4

Be sure to have questions for your employer. Employers expect you to have questions for them about their company. So make a list the night before so you can be prepared when you go.

  5. Step 5

Don't tell the interviewer that you are nervous. Most people can't tell when someone is nervous and you don't want to call attention to your nervousness. If they think you are already calm, why point it out. Remember most employers want to know how your going to do under pressure.

  6. Step 6

Make yourself more relaxed by showing up on time to the interview. If your on time for the interview it only makes you look better. This also gives you a few moments to check out the office and calm yourself in the surroundings.

  7. Step 7

If you aren't sure if you are going to remember everything you want to remember for the interview, it is ok to bring a note pad with stuff written down on it. Don't pull out a scrap piece of paper from your pocket. Bring a legal pad to make yourself look more professional.

  8. Step 8

Turn off your cell phone during the interview. You don't want any distractions while you are being interviewed. Keep it off vibrate as well. If their is an emergence at home their is most likely someone else that can take care of it for the meantime.

  9. Step 9

On your way to the interview tell yourself to relax. This really helps calm your nerves. If you have any other worries such as you don't see yourself as a bubbly person, tell yourself "I'm a nice and friendly person" and "People like me". This also helps you get into smile mode and ready to meet anyone.

  10. Step 10

Don't forget to say to your interviewer it's nice to meet you and shake their hand when you meet. And say thank you at the end of the interview and shake their hand again.

  11. Step 11

Email and/ or write a thank you note to them, for the interview after you leave.

  12. Step 12

Call the employer in the next few days, unless they tell you to call at a specific time. Don't let to much time past before you call or else someone else might snag the job from you.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep yourself calm before going into the interview.
  • Speak very clear and if you don't understand something let it be known.
