You know what they say about big feet, right? It's harder to find shoes!

Have big feet and a small budget? For many, buying big shoes means a long wait for them to be ordered into a department store, or extra money at unique big and tall retailers. These tips from a fellow big foot will get you started on the right foot when you shop for shoes on a budget.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stop trying to find big shoes at normal department shoe stores. Most stores only carry shoes up to size 13, even online or in catalogues.

  2. Step 2

Shop at outlet stores. The name brand shoe stores commonly carry big shoes, and the price is generally cheap, yet the selection will be drastically limited. For example, it is difficult to find big dress shoes at the Nike Outlet.

  3. Step 3

Shop online for used big shoes. The leader in used large shoes is Ebay. Although it is highly hit-or-miss, there are hundreds of used big shoes that are listed because they just didn't fit the original owner.

  4. Step 4

Shop online for new big shoes. Try Amazon, Zappos, or Shoebuy. Each site offers a broad range of selection and lower prices than other big and tall online shoe stores.

Tips & Warnings
  • When shopping online, you can't try on the shoes before you buy them. With the exception of Ebay, all of the listed sites have a guaranteed return policy (and many sellers on EBay offer one too).
  • Many big shoe shoppers try on shoes at Big and Tall, and then purchase them online.
  • When shopping online, pay close attention to the country the shoe is being sold from. European shoe sizes are sometimes listed instead of the US size.
