Things You'll Need:
- Paper Bag - you could use any paper bag as long as you have at least six inches to work with.
- Cardboard - this will be used to line the bottom of the bag, so make sure it is the same size as the bottom of the bag or a piece that can be cut to fit the bottom of the bag.
- Blue Paint - watercolors are easy to get out if they accidentally get on your clothes but they do require more coats.
- Blue Construction Paper - one piece should be enough but you should buy a few just in case.
- Metallic Trim - you can buy gold lace, or even use gold glitter.
- Stapler -
- parents please supervise your children when they use the stapler.
- White Glue (Elmer's is fine)
- Gold Wrappers From Hanukkah Gelt - you can find Gelt in any supermarket or CVS. They are round pieces of flat chocolate wrapped in gold foil made to look like coins.
-
Step 1
If your paper bag is taller than six inches, then cut the top of the bag off so that you have about six inches left.
-
Step 2
Take about an inch of the paper bag from the top and fold it inward. Staple or glue if necessary.
-
Step 3
Take your cardboard and place on the bottom of the bag. If the cardboard is too big, then cut the cardboard to fit the bottom of the bag.
-
Step 4
Paint the bag blue and let dry completely. Paint an additional coat if necessary.
-
Step 5
Fold the construction paper to make a handle. Before stapling to the paper bag, go ahead and add the trim. Let dry if necessary (e.g. if you are using glitter).
-
Step 6
Staple the handle to the (now) blue paper bag.
-
Step 7
Decorate the bag with the Gelt wrappers. You can place the gold coin wrappers all around the bag or put one on each side. It's your bag so decorate it how you choose.
