Make Fast Candy Yams / Sweet Potatoes

Super easy and super fast. These candy yams / sweet potatoes will have them all coming back for more.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Butter
  • Vanilla
  • Brown Sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Pancake Syrup
  • Pecans
  • Dried Cranberries (Craisins)
  1. Step 1

Bake yams / sweet potatoes in a 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes or until they can be pierced with a fork. To bake, wash and wrap the potatoes in aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet.

  2. Step 2

Remove the baked sweet potatoes from the oven and allow them to cool. They will be easier to cut and will not fall apart.

  3. Step 3

Once the potatoes are cool, remove them from the foil and remove the outer skin.

  4. Step 4

Cut yams across and lay in the bottom of a baking dish of your choice.

  5. Step 5

When you have covered the bottom of the baking dish with the sweet potatoes you are ready to add the toppings. Top with a generous sprinkle of brown sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon (about 1-2 tsp.). Add 1 tsp of vanilla flavoring. Place "dabs" of butter randomly over the potatoes. Sprinkle dried cranberries and pecans over top. Generously glaze layer with pancake syrup.

  6. Step 6

Continue this process until you use all of the sweet potatoes or until your pan is full. Place in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 45 minutes. Remove and eat!!!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can omit the nuts and berries if you wish for a more traditional sweet potato, but the tart and sweet of the berry and potato is out of this world.
  • You can bake the sweet potatoes the day before and use them the next day to speed the process.
