Instead of using toxic moth balls, which contain naphthalene, to repel moths try this natural solution! You will keep your wool garments safe without jeopardizing your health.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/4 C dried rosemary
  • 1/4 C dried mint
  • 1/8 C dried thyme
  • 1/8 C dried ginseng
  • 1 1/4 C of whole cloves
  1. Step 1

If you suspect your garment has already been attacked by moths, the eggs may be present in the fabric. Place the item in the freezer for 2 days. The cold temperature will kill any eggs or moths present in the fabric.

  2. Step 2

Mix up your moth repellent by placing the herbs in a jar or a large plastic bag and shaking them up well.

  3. Step 3

Make small sachets of the herbs by placing them in small pieces of cotton fabric (cotton breathes) and tying the fabric closed at the top with a ribbon. Make enough sachets to distribute them throughout the wool you are protecting. This will keep your wool items protected while they are in storage. Cedar shavings, or a cedar chest will also help to repel moths from your wool fabrics.
