One my favorite ways to raise a little extra cash is by recycling! We take our aluminum cans to the recycling center and they give us money! Woo hoo! If you don't already save your cans start today! And if you don't have any cans why not get a bag and go out and pick some up off the street? It will help beautify your neighborhood and you can get the kids involved! Or try asking around at work...let people know you'd like their empty cans instead of them being thrown away. It's a great way to get paid for helping the environment! Search your yellow pages for local recycling plants.

Consignment shops are awesome if you have a lot of unused clothes and sometimes even other items lying around. A consignment shop will take clothes and household items in very good condition and sell them, giving you a portion of the profits. It's great if you don't have time to list them online at places like Ebay or Craigslist. It might take a little longer depending on how much traffic the shops get, but sometimes stuff goes quickly!

Why not consider adjusting your tax withholding at work? THIS STEP NEEDS TO BE CONSIDERED VERY CAREFULLY AS YOU CAN REALLY MESS UP IF YOU DON'T WITHHOLD ENOUGH! By having less tax withheld you will see more in your pocket each week. This works best if you actually have more tax taken out than is needed for the first part of the year. That way you are more likely to pay enough taxes not to owe when tax time rolls around. Speak to your HR person to make the change, but I recommend talking to a tax advisor first. Companies like H & R Block would be able to advise you on this, too.

Another option you can consider is selling blood plasma. Plasma is the liquid part of your blood. Plasma is used in the treatment of serious disorders such as hemophilia and immune system deficiencies, and to make products used to help treat and prevent diseases like tetanus, rabies, measles, rubella and hepatitis B. It is always in demand, and you can earn money for having some of your blood plasma removed in a way that is a little similar to giving blood. Again, check your yellow pages for plasma donation centers, or try one of the resources below.

Offer yourself up for babysitting! Ask around at work, at church, with your friends and family, everyone you know! You might post an ad in the paper or online. Lots of people need a babysitter for a couple of hours each week, and if you're home doing nothing then why not earn a little money?

When I was in college, I made close to a thousand dollars a month scouting for used clothing and reselling it in consignment stores. Excellent suggestions. :-)
