Things You'll Need:
- Two interlocking dorm bunk beds
- One helper
- Hammer
-
Step 1
The main requirement here is a preexisting bunk bed set up. In college I had the fortune of having no roommate in a double bed dorm. So to save space I simply took the bottom bed off, and moved the top bed down to a desirable height. I then put my desk under the top bunk and presto change-o!! Loft bed!

Step 2
Remove both mattresses and bottom set of bed rails. This may require a hammer if the rails are locked in really tight. Place the bottom rails in a closet or behind the bed out of sight for safe keeping. You will need a helper if the beds are not already "bunked" also you will want to remember to place the metal pins in the holes so the bed does not fall over once it is bunked.

Step 3
Adjust the top bunk to where you would like for it to be. This is a trial and error process. After you have completed that task, simply but the mattress back on the bunk and utilize the space under neath. If you do not have bunk able beds and you want to build or convert a regular bed into a loft bed, you will need to consult with the dorm authorities first.
