Keep you kids believing in Santa for as long as possible.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

When I tell people that I have a teenager in high school that still believes in Santa, they just give me that, yeah right look. But it's true. Yes, I'm sure she doesn't really believe but she's still just like a little kid on Christmas morning waking us up saying Santa came, Santa came. And she's never once admitted or acted like she doesn't believe.

  2. Step 2

Follow these simple ideas and you too can prolong your Santa duties for as long as possible.

  3. Step 3

First, and probably most importantly, never admit the truth when confronted by your child. Of course, she's asked, "is Santa really real?" and to this I replied, "yes, of course he is". My worse Santa memory from childhood and the one that ended it all for me was when my mother came out and asked me, "Do you still believe in Santa?" I about fell over from shock and just thought, "well I don't now!" Never, I repeat never ask you child this question. You might as well just tell them Santa is a fraud right there on the spot.

  4. Step 4

Another very important detail, and I still do this and my kids are fourteen and nine, is always have different wrapping paper for the presents that come from Santa. If Santa brings presents in the same wrapping paper that you've been wrapping things in for weeks, it's sure to give away your secret. I always have Santa paper stashed with their Santa presents, that they didn't even see me buy. And, then I'll have the wrapping paper that we use together for other family members gifts.

  5. Step 5

This one is huge and I believe that it has had the biggest impact on my believers. Santa always brings something that mommy would not approve of. And I say every year when it's opened that I'm gonna kick Santa's butt for bringing it. Example, a few years ago my daughter got an electric scooter that I had been telling her for weeks she did not need and there was no way she was getting it. And of course, mommy has to play just a little bit mad about it when it comes from Santa.

  6. Step 6

We always buy our kids presents also, that are from Mommy and Daddy. Aside for the Santa presents. My older daughter asked me one year while we were shopping for family members, "aren't you going to get me a present?". Ever since this I have always had Santa presents and then Mommy and Daddy presents. And something that I didn't do when they were younger was keep the good gifts for Mommy presents. The things that they really really want always came from Santa, so he always got the credit for the really good stuff. No more, now the good stuff is coming from me..wink!

  7. Step 7

The hardest step to do is to keep other adults from talking about the 'truth' in front of your older child. Because, let me tell you adults are very stupid and inconsiderate this time of year. They just assume that a child should no longer believe after a certain age and will freely talk about being Santa in front of your child. I've had to distract my daughter or send her on an errand to get her out of the room many a times. So repeatedly tell your friends and family to keep a closed lip around them, which won't be easy.

on 2/9/2009 I teach my daughter about the spirit of Santa and what that means for everyone for sharing and giving. I always thought I would do the traditional Santa thing what you had mentioned but I just couldn't lie to her, it felt so horrible, as I always told her to tell the truth, I just couldn't do it. A teenager believing is a bit much, I hope your daughter didn't get teased and her butt kicked at school each day.I think that can make a child socially retarded and immature. It's time to move from Santa Clause to the std's and sexual relations talk. It's time she grew up some and isn't so naive cause there are creaps out there. Sorry if this offends it's just my thoughts.
