Are you new to doing laundry? Maybe your not new to doing laundry but can never seem to get your clothes clean enough. I have the perfect tips to guide you on the way to cleaner brighter clothes. Make your clothes last longer, by cleaning them better.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • liquid laundry detergent
  • washer
  • dryer
  • bleach (for white clothes)
  1. Step 1

Sort clothes according to colors. All dark colors are washed separately from bright colors. White colors are washed separately from dark colors or bright colors. Check labels to make sure the clothes are washable. If clothes are not washable please take it to the dry cleaners.

  2. Step 2

Measure detergent according to the instructions on detergent container. Pre treat the stains or soils as needed. Pre-treating should be done before you wash the clothes because it is going to need to sit for at least an hour. The worst the stain is the longer the pre treatment. Stains such as blood, ink and grass should be treated longer than one hour before washing.

  3. Step 3

For dark colors set temperature control knob on the washer to cold wash/cold rinse. If the fabric is considered delicate put cycle to gentle. For regular fabric set fabric to regular cycle. For bright colors set temperature control knob on warm. Make sure you check the designers label because some clothes have temperature needs. For white cotton clothes(no color on them) it will be safe to use bleach. Most washers are equipped with a bleach dispenser. Pour the bleach in dispenser and turn to a cold cycle.

  4. Step 4

Bright colors, dark colors, and whites are dried separately. Make sure you don't dry all the colors together because the dark colors can bleed on the other colors. When drying the clothes set the knob to what your clothes label recommend. Over drying certain fabrics can cause your clothes to shrink.

Tips & Warnings
  • Liquid detergent is recommended over powder. The liquid detergent rinses out of clothes better. Different brands of detergent will give different results. Tide is a strong detergent and is highly recommended.
  • Make sure to always read the labels on the clothes to get proper care instructions. Not reading the labels can result in damaged clothes
