Take care when you set synthetic hair because it’s more fragile than regular hair. Synthetic hair is made from chemical fibers and can break down more easily than human hair. It’s best to purchase synthetic hair already styled how you wish to wear it, but if you need to go from straight to curly, you can set synthetic hair.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mild shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Comb
  • Rollers
  • Setting lotion, if desired
  • Setting papers, if desired
  1. Step 1

Wash your synthetic hair before styling. Use cool water, mild shampoo and a conditioner. Agitate hair gently while shampooing and rinsing.

  2. Step 2

Comb out synthetic hair without pulling starting at the ends and working up to the roots. Use detangling spray if needed.

  3. Step 3

Set synthetic hair on regular rollers, not hot rollers, after it has air dried or is still damp. Use setting lotion and papers if you wish.

  4. Step 4

Dry your damp set synthetic hair on low setting under a sitting drier until just dry or overnight. If you set synthetic hair after it has air dried, leave rollers in overnight.

  5. Step 5

Remove rollers gently from synthetic hair and style. It’s okay to use styling products, such as mousse, gel or hair spray.

Tips & Warnings
  • Air dry synthetic hair for best results and to avoid frizzies.
  • Don’t use blow driers, hot rollers, or curling irons on synthetic hair or it will melt. If using a sitting drier, be careful to use it on low setting to avoid overheating synthetic hair.
